Lust is when you crave an aspect or trait of a person over the person him/herself. According to Dr. Tim Keller, this is a hunger for things we want, not a passion for the other person's well-being and existence.

If your definition of love stresses affectionate feelings more than unselfish actions, you cripple your relationships. - Tim Keller

You love a person, a soul, a being. Lust is intrinsically about ourselves. Love is intrinsically about sacrifice aka putting others before ourselves.

“Love is unselfishly choosing for another's highest good.” - C.S. Lewis
